Prehistory and desert

DAY 1: SAN PEDRO – PUEBLO DE BÉTER

evaporita del Valle de la Luna  Puesta de sol en Beter  ruinas de Tulor

We go at early afternoon (time departure depending of season), to the south, by the main oasis to go out into the dessert. We cross a wide and wild desert and then Coyo Oasis and visit the Tulor archeological site, Likan Antai (or Atacamenian) village from the first times of sedentarian life. After the visit, we cross through an ondulated sand desert to Béter colonial village, buried in the sand dunes, so totally in ruins. We arrive to our camp site. Dinner around a fire place and rest.

DAY 2: BÉTER – VALLE DE LA LUNA – SAN PEDRO

After a copious breakfast, we cross Coyo oasis and then a arid plain to penetrate into the Salt Chain most known part: The Moon Valley. We turn the big esplanade in front of Main Dune to arrive to a very privileged view on the Moon Valley main area. We pass through a small dune and, after the pique-nique, we get into a maze of small canyons which zigzag into the heart of Salt Chain. Adventure and nude rocks, sharp as knives are for the afternoon. We arrive into a big canyon, Quebrada Honda de Kari. We come by the bottom of that canyon direction to San Pedro Plain. Other canyons and up and deeply down dunes. We are back to the plain and its historical Village.

This program includes: Hot dinner Day 1, breakfast and pique-nique Day 2, bottled water during the ride, camping material (tent, sleeping bag and isolated mattress), a 4×4 vehicle joining the camp for riders and horse logistics.
